Our chapter conducted an "Introduction to the Armed Forces" at the Kings Baptist Church Trail Life Scout Troop meeting with 50 boys on February 16, 2021. Our uniformed team was lead by Chapter President Carroll Oates, LTC USA (Ret); 1st VP Terry Treat, Maj USA (Former); and Director Eric Menger, CAPT USNR (Ret).
The Scouts learned about the branches of the military, uniforms, ranks and responsibilities. Our team brought along the flag from each service. The Scouts were curious about the different types of uniforms, basic training time for each service, how they were founded and pay.
On March 3 we received a Thank You note from Matt Stott, Coordinator for the Trail
Life Scouts at King Baptist Church, Vero Beach. It reads:
" LTC Oates, Capt. Menger and Major Treat, Thank You for serving
our trailmen these past two Tuesday evenings. I am confident that many
of these young men will now respect, admire and honor our Armed Forces
and Country with a deeper appreciation. Thanks for your efforts."
They also have an all girl Troop and we would be delighted to do some classes with them as well.
