Welcome to the South Central Florida Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America.  Our chapter covers a geographical area that ranges from Frostproof in the north, down through Avon Park, Sebring, Lake Placid and all the way to Moore Haven in the south, and from Okeechobee in the east to Arcadia and Wuachula in the west. It is a big area right in the Heartland of Florida. In fact we call our chapter’s monthly newsletter the Heartlander.  We have an active, vibrant chapter that fosters the spirit of friendship and camaraderie you experienced as an officer on active duty.  Wherever we meet is the Officer’s Club.  We host a business meeting at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each even-numbered month. It is located at the Military Sea Services Museum at 1402 Roseland Avenue (corner of Kenilwoth and Roseland, .9 miles east of Sebring High School) in east Sebring.  During the odd-numbered months, we host a dinner/social with spouses during the second week of the month at a local restaurant;  you can find specific information on the calendar as well as on the front page of the newsletter.

Our chapter is a member (FL-40) of the Florida Council of Chapters, an affiliate of MOAA National, and:

  • Promotes the aims of The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA)
  • Furthers the legislative and other objectives of MOAA.
  • Encourages and facilitates camaraderie among retired, active, and former officers of the uniformed services and their spouses.
  • Provides useful services for, and protects the interests of, members and their families.
  • Conducts outreach to the local community both military and civilian.
  • Supports and is a member of the Highlands County Veterans Council.
  • Supports JROTC Awards to cadets at six local high schools.
  • Supports a Christmas Toy donation program to the Highlands County Salvation Army.
  • Supports the MOAA National Scholarship Fund.
  • Supports the American Flag Protocol program with local elementary schools.

We encourage you to maintain Premium or Life membership in MOAA national.  As a member of our chapter, you will have the opportunity to participate in all activities and in a wide variety of social events such as dinners with spouses or significant others. Chapter members work together to foster common local interests and to promote issues of national importance. Members also receive and have access to:

  • Military Officer Magazine
  • MOAA e-mail newsletters
  • MOAA Info Exchange  books and guides
  • Chapter’s “Heartlander” Newsletter

So come and share in the fun.  You’ll feel like you are back at the O’Club—just without the uniform!
