About Us

Mission

MOAA is a national non-profit organization operated exclusively for purposes beneficial to the interests of the nation and its Uniformed Services personnel, consisting of military officers from every branch of Service – including active duty, National Guard, Reserve, retired former officers and their families, that advocates a strong national defense and represents the interests of military officers at every stage of their careers. MOAA is an  independent, nonprofit, politically nonpartisan organization, widely acclaimed as the leading voice in Congress on compensation and earned benefit concerns for all members of the military community.

Chapter History

The Military Officers Association of America is strategically located in Alexandria, VA, adjacent to the nation’s capital, Washington, DC.  The Association is fully supported by affiliate Chapters throughout the nation and is the preeminent lobby in Congress working on behalf of active duty and retired personnel of the United States uniformed services.

The Association is a fraternal union of Commissioned or Warrant Officers of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, NOAA, USPHS or any Reserve component of those services.

Our Northeast Florida Chapter has been a chartered affiliate of MOAA National since December 13, 1956.  The Chapter membership represents all eight uniformed Services serving the nation and all ranks from Warrant Officer to Flag Officers.

Regular membership of our Chapter is composed of men and women who are serving or have ever served as Commissioned or Warrant Officers on active duty in any of the seven uniformed services.

Surviving Spouse members of our Chapter are Widows or Widowers of any deceased individual who would, if living, be eligible for membership.

Through its various committees and member support our Chapter sponsors a wide range of programs and activities throughout the year.  Following are some of the highlights:

There is a monthly social event for members, spouses and guests.  It is a membership meeting and normally will be a luncheon/dinner meeting with a social hour.  The meal is normally followed by a guest speaker or program to inform and/or entertain the membership. Formal dinners and other social or special events may be scheduled throughout the year.

Our Chapter’s Legislative Affairs Chairperson is actively involved in promoting timely and actionable awareness of state and national legislation that may affect the welfare of service members, both active duty and retired, enlisted personnel and officers, their families and survivors.

MOAA National is widely acclaimed as the premier and most effective Congressional lobby representing military members and their families and has been extremely successful in initiating and maintaining benefits dutifully earned through arduous years of warfare, family separations and military service.

Always standing by to “take care of our own”, the personal affairs committee is there for those who may just need comfort or assistance, in the hospital or confined to a long term care facility.

A monthly newsletter containing relevant and useful information of concern to members is distributed to each member by email or postal mail.

Each year the Chapter undertakes community service projects, contributes generously to National’s scholarship fund,  and presents annual awards, including and local scholarships, to distinguished JROTC/ROTC Cadets in area high schools and universities.

The Chapter monetarily supports community and veteran charitable organizations such JROTC/ROTC and the Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” Program, MOAA & chapter Scholarships, the Retiree Seminar plus various chapter members participate in numerous military and civilian activities and organizations within the community.

Members are strongly encouraged to become actively involved in leadership roles within our Chapter and participate in its activities.  This is an excellent opportunity to renew old friendships and make new ones.

Annual Chapter dues are $25.00 for Regular Members and $12.50 for Surviving Spouse Members.  GOOD NEWS!
